Texas cannot enforce a new law that restricts some public drag shows, a federal judge said Tuesday in declaring the legislation unconstitutional.
U.S. District Judge David Hittner found Senate Bill 12 “impermissibly infringes on the First Amendment and chills free speech.” The struck-down law prohibited any performers from dancing suggestively or wearing certain prosthetics in front of children.

Hittner ruled that language discriminated based on viewpoint and is unconstitutionally overbroad and vague.

“The Court sees no way to read the provisions of SB 12 without concluding that a large amount of constitutionally-protected conduct can and will be wrapped up in the enforcement of SB 12,” the ruling reads. “It is not unreasonable to read SB 12 and conclude that activities such as cheerleading, dancing, live theater, and other common public occurrences could possibly become a civil or criminal violation.”

This kind of abuse is why people join unions.

Big chain pharmacists in NYC are filling 250 scrips per day and giving more than 100 vaccines per day. 250 per day during the pandemic. It got so bad for them here, the City got involved and forced the chains to give them two half-hour breaks during their 12 hr. work day.

On top off that, their real wages have not kept up with inflation.

A few CVS pharmacists in Missouri walked out today in protest over their work conditions.

Some employers do really well in hard times with loyal employees. They may not be able to do much for their employees at that time, but if they have been straight and transparent with what goes on, it should pay off and people won't be as easily tempted to unionize.

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — A Danish artist who was given a pile of cash by a museum in northern Denmark to create a piece for its exhibition on labor conditions two years ago submitted two empty canvases — titled “Take the Money and Run.” The exhibit caused a stir.

Why hire 10 humans if one machine can do the work?

When Milton Hershey saw a new machine on his chocolate factory floor, he asked his manager what it was?

The manager told him, "that machine replaces sixteen workers".

Hershey replied "Get rid of the machine and hire sixteen workers".

It works until a company you're competing against cuts cost and uses the machine. If you have the market cornered you can pretty much do anything. Appeal to the public, like "Buy America" probably works to an extent to support higher prices. It's kind of a gamble. Walmart hasn't collapsed as yet, due to various not- so ethical practices. But they do actively run PR campaigns to get public support to offset it, like neighborhood support programs. I used to see those on the wall in one of the Vegas Walmarts.

What people seem to forget is that people still have to make the machines so there will still be manufacturing. Maybe not as many people will be making cars as the robots take over, but people will still be manufacturing the robots. What will eventually happen is that most if not all "labor" will be replaced by technology which will force more people to get educated which is a good thing.

The problem is that robots will be making the robots. Humans will soon be obsolete.

Heard the same in the 70s. Hasn't happened yet.
