So I occasionally watch "Moonshiners", a TV show on Discovery Channel that chronicles the lives of a bunch of hillbillies making and selling illegal moonshine. Part of the story is how they try and hide from the authorities! Yet they are CLEARLY visible throughout the show, and although their exact locations and names are not mentioned, I doubt it would take much police work to locate and arrest them. I mean, these are federal crimes.... tax evasion, transporting crap over state lines, etc.... It just doesn't add up to me?

Edit.... supposedly two main characters are licensed distillers..... then the show is a hoax because the main premise of the show is them hiding.... not paying taxes on the shine..... I guess I am putting too much thought into this....
I just accept that the 'reality' type TV show is going to be dishonest to some degree and sometimes completely dishonest. In this case, perhaps they are real moonshiners who have given it up and are distilling water to make a show. Or maybe they are actors who never came within 100 miles of a real moonshiner. I resent that we aren't told.

A whole section of shows may also be filmed before they are released. So it could be they are no longer where they were. Also the long arm of the law grinds slowly. Not sure how high moonshiners rate on the priorities of the law enforcement before every other thing they deal with.

Seems to me Survivor was almost over before the first show even aired.

Reality tv is a joke. A friend of mine was asked to be on Pawn Stars with absolutely no intention of him selling his item. The item made for good tv so that is why they aske him. A bar I used to frequent was on "Bar Rescue". They brought in actor to be the main plot point of the show and the bartender was bringing his own keg of beer to work and selling drafts from it and not from the bar taps. A real joke.
At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a detrrent.

Bingo!! Every bit of it is a phony
baloney hoax. All 'reality shows
are the opposite of reality.
All the sellers on Pawn Stars are
vetted well in advance. It's shot
on a set, not the store. In Storage
Wars all the good stuff is planted
by the produces in advance. On
American Pickers all the places
they go to are visited far in
advance by producers and prices
are agreed on. Deadliest Catch
uses footage from previous
seasons to beef up episodes.
All the drama in the cabin is
fake, it's scripted.

I could go on and on, all reality
shows are totally planned out
in advance except for things
they can't control.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

A company called Sawstop makes table saws that are able to sense flesh in contact with the blade then stop and retract the blade without injury. They have had this technology for a while now, amazing. I had no idea. In the video below, they run a wiener right into the blade and it’s not even scratched.

The saws are too expensive for me. I’ve found that if you don’t let your fingers touch a spinning saw blade you can keep them all attached to your hand.
The mind hungers for that on which it feeds.

As long as you are avoiding the stadium area or downtown, you would be fine.
I lived in Tampa last superbowl and did not really notice any difference
That year Bruce Springsteen was the halftime show. Had coworkers that were big Bruce fans. They volunteered to cheer for him on the field and were picked. They were let into the stadium just before the halftime show. Escorted onto the field, they cheered Bruce on. Once halftime show over, immediately escorted out the stadium.

That is one of the few reality shows I liked. Its so simple its almost addictive. I agree its unlikely that it is staged (its a pretty simple concept just follow parking people while they write tickets). I like the booting episodes.

Was at Wegman's yesterday. Dishwasher detergent, a nice 75 ounce box, was on sale for $1. I never really paid attention to how much I usually paid, but figured $4 or $5? I see I can get a similar generic box on Walmart.com for around $4. My dilemma was how many to buy? I think a box lasts me a few months at least, but also never paid attention.....

I bought two boxes.....
