IT

Loved it. It's a huge crowd pleaser, definitely going to be a big hit.

It's actually surprisingly funny. The kids are great and have some really good one-liners.

I have a couple minor complaints (too much CGI at times, not enough Pennywise) but overall I'm extremely happy with how this adaptation turned out.

Can't wait for Chapter 2!

Horror movies can be incredibly profitable.

'It' gets 90% on Rotten T, the critics loved the
thing. It's stays true to the book. The script
for the sequel, when the kids are adults and
go after the clown, is already being written.

IT makes $13.5 million on Thursday night

Deadpool, the previous R-rated Thursday preview record holder, made $12.7 million opening night.

It might beat Logan.

Yep. Looks like it's gonna make between $100-110 million this weekend.

WB hasn't officially announced the sequel yet, but I assume that announcement will be coming soon.

The title card at the end of this one says "IT: Chapter One."

In almost 40 years, no one has made a movie with quite such a classic pose.

That's a lot of money by any standards, not just "R rated" or "horror films".

If 'IT' makes $100mil this weekend, it will
already be in profit. It only cost $35mil
to make because it has no known stars
to suck all the profits away..

"The Stephen King adaptation from New Line and Warner Bros. shattered records over the weekend earning $117.2 million from 4,103 locations according to studio estimates on Sunday."

In 3 days it made $180 mil world wide.
Amazing for a movie with $35 mil
budget.

Deadpool made $132.4 million it's opening weekend but only $230.6 million for the remainder of it's run. While "IT" did not break Deadpool's opening weekend, the positive reviews, word of mouth, and lack of massive competition until 3 October with Blade Runner 2049 may mean it could break the R rated record established by the Passion of the Christ in 2004 ($370.3 million).

I wonder if the censors are going to let this movie into China?

It will be interesting to see what actors get cast as the adult versions of these kids in IT: Chapter 2.

With a ~120 million opening weekend, they should be able to get anyone they want.

Jessica Chastain is pretty much a lock for adult Bev. She already worked with the director on "Mama."
