I've heard the same thing about Mother. Everyone is so hush hush about it afraid to give anything away that I can't figure out if it is a movie I can see or not. It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures. ( |

Judging by the rating's board there is less sex in this movie than in Black Swan, but a lot more violence. It is rated age 18 or older in UK, while Black Swan rated age 15. If you have difficulty watching Black Swan or The Wrestler (both of which you can rent) than certainly don't see Mother! UK gave it the highest rating short of porn. Suitable only for people aged 18 or older, which means adults only. No one younger than 18 may see an 18 film in a cinema. It is illegal to supply a video work with an 18 certificate to anyone under that age. Films under this category do not have limitation on the foul language that is used. Hard drugs are generally allowed, and explicit sex references along with detailed sexual activity are also allowed. Scenes of strong real sex may be permitted if justified by the context (Sex works cannot be placed at "18"). Very strong, gory, and/or sadistic violence is usually permitted. Strong sexual violence is permitted unless it is eroticized or excessively graphic, in which a work will require compulsory cuts where possible. Past movies rated age 18 or older in the United Kingdom 1. The Passion of the Christ (2004) 2. The Hangover (2009) 3. The Exorcist (1973) 4. Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) 5. Gone Girl (2014) 6. Fifty Shades of Grey (2015) 7. Hannibal (2001) 8. Django Unchained (2012) 9. Straight Outta Compton (2015) 10. Scary Movie (2000) 11. Fatal Attraction (1987) 12. Lethal Weapon 2 (1989) 13. Taken (I) (2008) 14. The Green Mile (1999) 15. Ransom (1996) 16. The Godfather (1972) 17. Wanted (2008) 18. The Departed (2006) 19. The Silence of the Lambs (1991) 20. American Gangster (2007) UK Mother!: United Kingdom:18 Black Swan: United Kingdom:15 The Wrestler (2008): United Kingdom:15 USA Mother!: Rated R for strong disturbing violent content, some sexuality, nudity and language Black Swan: Rated R for strong sexual content, disturbing violent images, language and some drug use The Wrestler (2008): Rated R for violence, sexuality/nudity, language and some drug use |

Fleastiff Member since: Oct 27, 2012 Threads: 62 Posts: 7831 | Eons ago Dustin Hoffman in Siege at Trencher's Farm had a gang rape scene which seems to have sparked considerable emotions and a few incidents amongst the male members of the audience. I don't think its the type of content but the manner in which it is presented. Still, even today, two of the most violent movies ever made involving first rate directors. Straw Dogs: Sam Peckinpah (based on 1969 novel Siege at Trencher's Farm) USA 19 January 1972 (New York City, New York) UK 30 January 1972 A Clockwork Orange: Stanley Kubrick UK 13 January 1972 USA 2 February 1972 (wide release) The Exorcist (1973) William Friedkin 26 December 1973 (USA) |

You should definitely see it. I'd be very curious to hear your thoughts. There's a definite biblical undertone to the film... A straight man will not go for kids. - AZDuffman |

I read a synopsis online, and concluded it the screen writer is just a few marbles short of certifiable, if the synopsis is accurate. Donald Trump is a one-term LOSER |

The screenwriter, Darren Aronofsky (48), is currently dating Jennifer Lawrence (27). And he used to be married to Rachel Weisz... r A straight man will not go for kids. - AZDuffman |
