John Cook, the guy he is talking about has addressed the criticism, with the example that most astronomy papers don't bother to mention that the Earth revolves around the Sun in every paper. In other words, the consensus is so obvious, it doesn't need to be mentioned every time about a study in every aspect of climatology.

Like somebody pointed out, it's been
warming more or less since the last
ice age. Why panic over it. Nothing
we cab do.

Panic? Historically warmer is better.

Crops go better, more land becomes
arable, oceans warm up and support more
fish. Ever been in the warm Gulf Stream
at noon when the sun is directly
overhead? Look into the clear water
and it's a feeding frenzy, thousands
of fish feeding on other fish.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

Guess you’re going to facilitate Bible plagues. Longer seasons and warmer weather brings more bugs.

Isn’t there something about insects arriving in enormous numbers and eating all the food?

Today we have modern pest control for that.

Would you prefer global cooling and crop failure?

Is 2016 modern enough? And suppose it got 100 times worse all over the place.

Quote:

Argentina is currently facing the largest locust swarm within the past 60 years. According to Diego Quiroga, Argentina's agriculture agency’s chief of vegetative protection, said that it is impossible to eradicate the swarm, so they are focusing on minimizing the damage caused by it by sending out fumigators equipped with backpack sprayers to exterminate small pockets of young locusts that are still unable to fly. This method of extermination, however, is unable to wipe out pocket of locusts hidden in Argentina's large, dry forests. The swarm covers an area the size of Delaware in Northern Argentina. The locusts are expected to grow ten inches and mature into flying swarms by February fifth.[1]
The locusts first appeared in small areas in June 2015. The mild Winter aided their population growth, allowing it to reach its current size. This swarm is reported to be the largest within 60 years despite last year's swarm being reported four miles in length and two miles in height. A swarm of this size is worrisome to Argentinians because locusts, a relative of grasshoppers, attack farmers' crops and can cause famine and starvation.[2] This behavior is more pronounced when the locust population density is higher due to a trait called locust phase polyphenism,[3] so it stands to reason that a larger swarm will be more aggressive than a smaller one.
Currently, there are over one hundred outbreaks of locusts that have affected over an area of 700,000 hectares (roughly 2700 square miles). The infestation is so bad that SENASA, the government agricultural inspection agency, has set up a hotline for people to call if they see any locusts.[4]

Been happening for thousands of years. If it was going to "get worse" it would have by now. Modern pest control methods will help stop the worst of it. Quit acting like you are special living in a special time. Neither it true.

You still do not say if you prefer cold temps and outright crop failure. Ever hear of "the year without a summer?"

Warmer is better!

So, you read that and thought it was nothing. So sad. I don't prefer any extremes. Why is that even relevant?

I think Cook felt that the consensus is to be considered so obvious that, yes, you can just assume it is so, even in the face of controversy, therefore you can just fake a study and no person who wants to 'signal virtue' would dare question it.

That kind of crap really bothers me and says quite a bit about a person it doesn't bother ... but the development that bothers me the most is the recent one that has the quite clear assertion that we are also going to have to give up meat as well! that one really has me going. This is not about saving the planet, it's about accepting the virtuous lifestyle laid out by the kooks who have dreamed this up. Solar energy, vegan diet, socialist economy, identity politics, you name it, and it all is to be justified by science that is not to be questioned, which is to say science that is bad science by definition.
