Wow. Just, well, wow. You know
nothing about the real history
of your Church, then. Don't worry,
I'm not going to waste my time
wising you up. Been down that
road too many times with you.

Wow.....

Bob, the Church's greatest growth took place as a persecuted minority with no worldly power. It is not interested in worldly power, never has been.
So the church spread round the world because of what, the wind?

Because of the Holy Spirit, which interestingly enough is depicted as a rushing wind in the Bible.

Do you know anything about our founder and how He viewed worldly power. He might be a great place for you to start if you really want to learn about the Church.

What does that have to do with what
the Church actually became.

In 1500 the Roman Catholic Church was all powerful in western Europe. There was no legal alternative. The Catholic Church jealously guarded its position and anybody who was deemed to have gone against the Catholic Church was labelled a heretic. Nothing was done in Europe without permission from the Vatican.

This sounds like a lot of power
to me. Rich families could buy
high positions in the Church for
a son, so he could benefit their
business interests. Power power
power..

Corruption, corruption, corruption... sin, sin, sin... I'm glad we both agree that the Church in that time was not healthy because it had drifted so far from its mission and purpose. Good thing God sent great saints during that time to get us back on track.

I'm glad we both agree that the
Church has always been about
acquiring power, and always will
be.

I think we would agree that man has always been about acquiring power and always will be until they encounter the living Lord Jesus and He changes their lives and makes them saints.
