Of course he's responsible, it's "his" movie, he's the producer.

It's his movie, he's paying to have it made as one of the producers. It's absolutely unforgivable that there was a loaded firearm on his movie set and he does not know about it. It's secondly unforgivable that he would handle any kind of a gun without first checking to see but it doesn't have live bullets in it. I accidentally discharged a handgun 40 years ago and luckily didn't hit anything. Ever since then I'm totally conscious of how easily guns can go off unless your extra careful in handling them. Anybody who deals with guns knows this. You never assume anything when handling any kind of firearm. If he's any kind of real person he just ruined the rest of his life because the guilt from this for a normal person would be overwhelming. From what I've seen of Alec Baldwin, he's not a normal person. He's a Hollywood tin-plated jackass. He'll blame everybody under the sun except himself.

Why in 2021 are movies using real guns with blanks for combat scenes?

The effects and sounds are CGd in anyway. I don't see the point of this. It seems like a massive risk with a lot that can go wrong.

Somebody in his employ must have screwed up, and their negligence will be imputed to him, their employer.

Not sure to what degree workers comp will kick in.

Ouch. Well, being an accidental shooter is the least of his problems. The production probably has insurance though to cover some liability.

Why did he even have any kind of a gun pointed at a member of the crew and why did he pull the trigger. He killed one person and injured another.

I can’t see any scenario where Alec Baldwin could be reasonably held responsible for this.

He pulled the trigger so he has to overcome that. Like if a couple guys were fooling around and one slipped a bullet in the chamber as a joke and the other pulled it and killed someone. Not that it would be more than some kind of negligent homicide but in his hand he has a potential problem.

Thus far there is no explanation as to what led up to this tragedy.

Obviously Baldwin has "lawyered up" and isn't talking.

Not that silence indicates guilt: it indicates he's doing what his lawyers told him.

Welp, things aren't looking any better. Part of the crew left the set in protest of the conditions.

Quote:
The camera operators and their assistants were frustrated by the conditions surrounding the low-budget film, including complaints of long hours and pay, according to three people familiar with the matter who were not authorized to comment.

The camera crew showed up for work as expected at 6:30 a.m. Thursday and began gathering up their gear and personal belongings to leave, one knowledgeable crew member told the Los Angeles Times.

Labor trouble had been brewing for days on the dusty set at the Bonanza Creek Ranch near Santa Fe.

He better have some money stashed away for retirement, 'cause this looks like it could be costly.

Most likely the production company would be responsible not the individual.

These things always have a huge amount of liability insurance they can't make a movie without it. No union member would work on an uninsured sad. No investor will put a dime into a movie that was not insured.
